I’ve introduced my recent works as a series I am calling Intimate Strangers…
ARTIST STATEMENT
Intimate Strangers is paradoxical; the tension of opposites. To hold these diametric opposites and dismantle their perceptions and projections, are my intentions with this series. The capacity to hold and reflect on the depth of shadow is where this work originates.
The Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, Kintsugi, honors the breakage and repair of the vessel, which in turn presents the work whole and beautiful, rather than something to discard. My focus is to create personal emancipation and to provide a sanctuary for the sensitivity of the soul, and to evoke a third expression to bring forth a new form from these opposing tensions.
To access the gold we quest, one must descend into the darkness and it is there that we extract the gold.
